Note From Karen
We
are so blessed...
On this last day
of the year, I'm filled with a profound
gratitude for all the moments we have shared -
even in this virtual world. As unintended as it
is, the internet is teaching us a new way to
be with one another. In spirit rather than
the physical. May it give us new understanding
of how to see one another in a new light.
Today, as a
personal tradition, I will reflect on this
year's blessings and challenges to see that all
that has happened was simply here to help me
remember who I really am and why I'm really
here.
I'm not here to
compete or get ahead. I'm not here to earn the
biggest income or have the most fame. I'm not
here to fix my weaknesses or atone for my
mistakes. And neither are you.
We are here to
live the Love we are. To feel it every day and
to share it with everyone we see. Sunday school
children sing that God is Love. how could we, as
His children, be anything less? You are not
unfit, inept, or inferior. You are love. You are
not lost, you've merely closed your eyes.
You are the
light of the world and God's most precious
miracle. You don't have to earn it and it can
never be denied you. You only need to accept
it and share it. That's who we are and why
we're here. To be love, to receive love, and
to give love. All the rest is simply the
canvass on which we paint our love.
In the coming
year, shine your light brightly. Though you
are hundreds and thousands of miles away, I
can feel your light in my heart. Make this our
global warming - to melt hate and fear
and loneliness with the heat of our love. It's
our ultimate renewable, inexhaustible
resource.
My gift to you
on this dawn of a new year is my eternal
thankfulness for your being. This world would
not be the same without you. Please accept
this beautiful reminder of your magnificence:
www.lightmovie.com. May 2006 bless you
with love and laughter. Karen
You Don’t Say
"At
times
our
own
light
goes
out
and is
rekindled
by a
spark
from
another
person.
Each
of us
has
cause
to
think
with
deep
gratitude
of
those
who
have
lighted
the
flame
within
us."
Albert
Schweitzer
"If you were all alone in the universe with no one to talk to, no one with which to share the beauty of the stars, to laugh with, to touch, what would be your purpose in life? It is other life, it is love, which gives your life meaning. This is harmony. We must discover the joy of each other, the joy of challenge, the joy of growth."
Mitsugi Saotome
.
"We look forward to the time when the Power of Love will replace the Love of Power. Then will our world know the blessings of peace."
William Ewart Gladstone
"If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, "thank you," that would suffice."
Meister Eckhart

The Sequoia Seed

by Karen
Wright
Sequoia trees
can tower over 300 feet tall, yet their seed
cones
are very tiny...about the size of a small
chicken egg. It can take
decades for sequoia seeds to break free of
their protective cones
and sprout. Most often, it's the heat from a
wildfire that opens the
cone and releases the seeds. The fire that
destroys much, gives
birth to the seed and new life begins.
We each live
through many of life's fires. Illness, death,
abandonment, disappointment - our fires can
also destroy or give life.
When our personal tragedies leaves us with
nothing familiar to hang onto, that's when
seeds of new possibilities can finally take
root and bring us to a new awareness of who we
are and
why we're here.
The Sequoia
Seed was born from five years of weekly Waking
Up messages. Selected by readers and
strengthened and polished, each of these 23
chapters will reveal new insights into very
familiar challenges. If you've liked Waking
Up, you'll cherish The Sequoia Seed for years
to come.
